Skrillex remixes Kelsey Lu’s ‘Due West’

Home hot since 82 Skrillex remixes Kelsey Lu’s ‘Due West’

OWSLA boss Skrillex is back with another scintillating remix! Taking on fellow American Kelsey Lu‘s single; ‘Due West’, the track marks Sonny’s first remix of the year, following a long absence from releases (as a solo artist). Having recently performed together at FORM festival in Arizona, Skrillex’s timely remix only seems fitting. Excluding ‘Turn Off The Lights’ as Dog Blood earlier this year, Sonny’s last release came in the form of ‘Face My Fears’ with Hikaru Utada, which served as the Kingdom Hearts III opening theme song.

The original is a slow, mellow, vocal-driven ballad, incorporating plenty of percussion elements. However, Skrillex merely takes the vocal and gives the track a brand-new perspective. Retaining the track’s relaxed atmosphere in the breaks, a heavy kick drum and weighty basslines take over, making the track a heavy club tune, irrespective of its slow tempo.

Despite his slow start to the year, new Skrillex music could be on the horizon. The 31-year-old took to Twitter back in April to explain his minor hiatus in 2019, much to the delight of his fans;

“Been taking long time off working on my friends albums but more importantly myself. Been lots of rumors of an “album”. I don’t know what it is or what to call it….”
