Avicii ‘Singles’ EP turns 8 years old
Cast your mind back to summer 2011, and dance music was awash with huge hits from the likes of David Guetta (‘Little Bad Girl’), Example (‘Changed The Way You Kissed Me’), and Sak Noel (‘Loca People’). But inbetween all of these, a baby-faced Swede by the name Avicii (aka Tim Bergling) was making waves through the industry. Following up his 2010 hits ‘Seek Bromance‘ and ‘My Feelings For You’ with two fresh IDs in Spring 2011 (which later became known as ‘Levels’ and ‘Fade Into Darkness‘), Tim launched his ‘Singles’ EP in July 2011, whilst in the midst of a massive summer residency in Ibiza.
Supporting Tiesto during his weekly slots at Privilege, the Avicii Singles EP catapulted Tim into the spotlight even further thanks to tracks like ‘Street Dancer’, showcasing his more underground-led house side as opposed to the commercial hits his career later became known for. A true genius of his craft, dance music fans worldwide miss Avicii every day following his death in April 2018, but luckily we can still enjoy his timeless music, including the Singles EP which turns 8 years old today.
