Our dedicated ‘Best of’ playlist on Spotify will do a weekly dive into your favourite artists’ discography to curate a selection of their greatest hits and new tunes. Allowing you to enjoy the best of their catalogue in one place. This week, we focus on electronic Kölsch. Labelled by legendary BBC Radio 1 broadcaster Annie Mac as “the king of piano house”, Danish DJ and producer Kölsch has grown to become one of dance music’s biggest names. His mainstage set at Tomorrowland week 1 was no doubt one of the highlights of the event, with Kölsch’s incredibly fresh and melodic set standing out as one of the most well-received by the crowd and those watching from home.

Over the years, Kölsch has released 3 albums on the Speicher sub-label of Kompakt ‘1977’, ‘1983’, and ‘1989’. ‘1989’ features his most well-known track, ‘Grey’ which gained popularity thanks to its clean sound and extremely simple, yet infectious brass melody.

in 2013 Kölsch also released the beautiful ‘All that matters’ in collaboration with Troels Abrahamsen. This track also features incredibly beautiful and catchy melodies whilst being driven by an outstanding vocal hook. ‘All that matters’ was also an instant success and was also famously remixed by Kryder on Axwell‘s imprint Axtone, becoming one of the progressive house anthems of 2014.

Earlier this year, Kölsch released the unique ‘Fabric Presents: Kölsch‘ album, featuring 10 tracks composed by himself during specific flights for his tour, with each track being named after the exact flight. One of the stand out tunes from this album is no doubt ‘VY3517’ which Kölsch composed on a flight from Ibiza to Barcellona. The track features an unconventional arrangement and sounds which blend perfectly with Kölsch’s signature chord and piano sounds.
