The charismatic brothers Dimitri and Michael Thivaios better known as Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike (DV&LM) have started this year’s Tomorrowland edition in style with a sublime and energetic 60-minute set at the iconic Belgian Mainstage.

Returning to the old days this year under the ‘The Book of Wisdom‘ theme, some were feeling nostalgic reliving the first golden EDM days. The local Belgians have always been the permanent and ambassadors of Tomorrowland over the years paying a crucial role for the festival’s success, expansion and popularity and taking the brand to the highest levels. And after this very first weekend, we have to say they have not let anyone down.

Performing a solid mainstage set is never an easy task, but DV&LM make it look simple. Showcasing a perfectly balanced mix of new and old material, the brothers owned the stage from start to end and obtained the complete crowd attention playing almost a 100% of pure own tracks. From opening and closing their set with two new tracks like ‘We Can’t Lose’ and ‘Happy Together’ a ton of things happened in between.

We heart some of their greatest classics like ‘Ocarina’, ‘The Hum’, ‘Mammoth’ or ‘Tremor’ at the time they presented mashups with iconic songs that the crowd sang loudly along including ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ ‘Everybody’s Free’ ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ ‘Dragostea Din Tei’ and ‘The Final Countdown’ among others. Also, big names like Armin van Buuren, W&W, D’angello & Francis and Wolfpack came by and joined the duo on stage making of this set an even more memorable experience.

And last but not least, of course, new unreleased music. The duo teased a wide number of upcoming projects, which looked insanely good. Credited collabs featuring Wolfpack, Timmy Trumpet, W&W, Fedde Le Grand and even one with the legendary singer Akon blew the attendants minds away who were left speechless, after witnessing a truly majestic and unforgettable performance that will be one for Tomorrowland’s book.

It’s crazy to think that this has just been the first weekend. The duo has set the bar very high and it will be hard to overcome this. However, the brothers will be playing two sets in the mainstage (one as 3 Are Legend) as well as hosting their own Smash The House stage, so let’s hope for the best and see what they have left in store.
