Mat Zo unveils new ‘This is MAD ZOO’ compilation album

English DJ, Mat Zo is known for blurring lines between genres. A master of his craft, Zo‘s eclectic roots are clearly evident in all his works, magnifying his musical knowledge and talent. Having launched his imprint; Mad Zoo, some 5 years back, the label’s direction was, and still is, a clear reflection of that. Now, his latest compilation album, ‘This is MAD ZOO’, is a testament to that reflection.

In an interview with Billboard, Zo told of his inspirations behind his latest musical offering:

“We’ve been pushing quality electronic music from all sides of the spectrum for a few years now, so it only made sense to do a compilation representing all of what we’re about – taking electronic music’s past and beaming it into the future. Mad Zoo is all about that pre-EDM production mindset and applying it to the sonic landscape of today, and we tried to capture that in what is supposed to be a microcosm of the whole label. Even though there are so many different genres, it feels cohesive, because every track was made with a ton of love, and every track has an element of chaos”

Encapsulating the hardest & most experimental pieces of music representing electronic music’s darker side of the spectrum, ‘This is MAD ZOO’ kicks off in the sub-100bpm region, boasting experimental Trap/Breaks inspired beats from the likes of Craze and Mat Zo himself, before the gritty Drum & Bass and Dubstep growls & basslines from Zo, Kayoh & Dino encapsulates fans. Containing something for everyone with tenebrous tastes, the album progressively gets darker as the listener moves further down the tracklist, with the likes of DWAM and HELLBOUND! delivering bass-face-worthy bangers.
