Porter Robinson is no stranger to charitable donations. One of the goals of Second Sky Festival was to raise money for the Robinson Malawi fund. The fund, set up by Robinson himself, was aimed to raise money at ending Burkitt lymphoma, which is a type of cancer, in Malawi.

When revealing the fund earlier this month, Porter said:

“I’m starting a fund in cooperation with UNC to help improve the survival rate in that region so that those families won’t have to needlessly lose loved ones. in this case, more resources translates directly into higher survival rates.”

Revealing to his fanbase on social media he told his fans that $77,000 had been raised. Robinson said, “between donations at second sky, online donations, and $1 from each ticket”. The amount raised at the festival and from the $1 from each ticket sale. Porter matched the amount of $77,000 and so $154,000 went directly to the Robinson Malawi fund.

The main reasoning for Porter setting up the Malawi fund was because his brother Mark was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma back in 2017 when Porter was on the Shelter tour. Porter’s fans are some of the most devoted of any artist in dance music and really went the extra mile to donate where possible. Congratulations to everyone for raising so much money! Donations to the fund can still be made online.
