Is streaming using Spotify using up all your mobile data? Well not to worry, with the new Lite version unveiled today, this should help. This new version of the app will help more users across the globe have access to music. Depending on your location, it may also save you money on data.

The lite version of Spotify works just like the main app. You’ll be able to discover music, artists and playlists as easily as using the main app. The main difference with the lite app is that it accommodates older operating systems. Senior Product Manager at Spofity, Kalle Persson, explains the need for the Lite app.

“Spotify Lite was built from the ground up based on user feedback from around the world, allowing millions more to enjoy the world’s best music experience — especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage.”

Spotify Lite is currently available in 36 markets across the globe, from Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. The Lite version of Spotify makes managing and controlling your data easy. It also gives you the option to set data limits on Spotify’s usage. At a mere 10MB, this app won’t be increasing your data bill.

The app is easy to download, and it has options available for free and premium users. Lite can be used alongside or independently of the main Spotify app and on Android phones running version 4.3 or higher. The main reason for launching the Lite app is to give users access to music who may not have had access due to their location. The new app will be helping people in under-served populations as well as saving money for music lovers.

With 100 million paying customers and 217 million users, Spotify will continue on growing. Check out the Spofity ‘Lite’ App on Google Play.
