Our dedicated ‘Best of’ playlist on Spotify will do a weekly dive into your favourite artists’ discography to curate a selection of their greatest hits and new tunes. Allowing you to enjoy the best of their catalogue in one place. This week, we focus on legendary Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello.
Steve Angello made headlines this week after he left an extended response on Instagram in response to a fan criticising Swedish House Mafia’s lack of music releases since their return. Citing hard work and the pursuit of perfection as reasons behind their latest work and justifying the trio’s recent cancellations.
Beyond Swedish House Mafia, Steve Angello is also known for being one of the drivers of the ‘golden era’ of progressive house, thanks to his ability to compose timeless melodies and formidable talent in the studio. Tracks like ‘Payback’, in collaboration with Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman and ‘SLVR’ with Matisse & Sadko are examples of pieces of music which will live forever thanks to their incredible emotional charge.
Since 2003, Steve Angello has been running his own label Size Records, which he debuted with his own ‘Simplicity EP’, an EP even some of the most loyal fans may have forgotten about as the 3 tracks it consists of sit below 15,000 plays on Spotify currently. He later went on to release several hits in collaboration with the likes of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Laidback Luke. Becoming a major driver of the club sounds in the late 2000s with hits such as ‘Knas‘, ‘Be’, ‘Show Me Love’ and many more.
