Arguably one of the greatest highlights of festival season, Untold festival has built a reputation as one of the world’s leading events. This year over 372,000 festival-goers descended on the magical grounds for an unforgettable 4-day extravaganza. Plus, over 6 million people tuned in to the livestream, yet more evidence of Untold’s influence on a global scale. On the final day of the festival over 97,000 visitors attended the event to witness headliners including Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, David Guetta and Robbie Williams.

The festival’s first night kicked off with performances from James Arthur, Tujamo, W&W, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, 3 Are Legend, Steve Aoki, Arty, and Cosmic Gate, to name just a few. Tujamo described his performance as “the best two hours of my life”, while Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike said: “Romania, let me tell you something. You are the most wonderful and strongest audience in the world. We were just waiting to get to you.” With such powerful statements from the performing artists, it’s clear that Untold is not just a regular festival, and holds a firm place in the hearts of artists and attendees alike.

Armin van Buuren’s special relationship with Untold is undoubtedly one of the many reasons that fans will travel from all over the world just to be part of the experience. This year he even produced the official anthem ‘Something Real‘, a collaboration with Avian Grays and Jordan Shaw. Day 2 saw Armin van Buuren perform a mammoth 7.5 hour set, during which he exclaimed: “it’s good to be home Romania!”. Also performing that day were Stormzy, Timmy Trumpet, Solomun, Boris Brejcha, Borgore and many more.

As the festival moved into its third day, attendees were treated to phenomenal performances from Bastille, Danny Avila X Flying Steps, Don Diablo, Fedde Le Grand, ATB, Andrew Rayel, Paul Kalkbrenner, Tale Of Us and more. Don Diablo delighted fans with a performance packed with some of his most highly-regarded hits including ‘Cutting Shapes‘, ‘Momentum‘ and ‘Heaven To Me‘. Fedde Le Grand brought an incredible level of raw energy to the Mainstage, delivering a set filled with huge anthems, before closing his performance with Calvin Harris‘ ‘Sweet Nothing‘. Meanwhile, Paul Kalkbrenner and Tale Of Us saw fans swarm to the Galaxy stage, eager for a dose of unadulterated techno.

Bringing the festival to a close in style, day four was packed to the brim with top class artists. Lighting up the Mainstage were none other than Robbie Williams, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Nicky Romero, Tinie Tempah, Ummet Ozcan and Kungs. With such an all-star Mainstage lineup, it’s surprising that fans were able to tear themselves away – but with such great talents also gracing the smaller stages, attendees were left with some serious dilemmas about where to spend their night. At the Galaxy stage, Seth Troxler and Jamie Jones B2B Martinez Brothers, at the Fortune stage, Giuseppe Ottaviani brought his live 2.0 show, John O’Callaghan, Futurecode, and many more took to the stage. Other highlights included Nora En Pure at Time, and Black Coffee at Daydreaming.

One of the major highlights of the final night was Martin Garrix and his ANIMA show. Lighting up the Mainstage with jaw-dropping visuals alongside an array of his greatest tracks, the young Dutch star made it clear that he was glad to be back in Romania. Opening his set with the club mix of ‘Mistaken‘, it wasn’t long before the crowd were dancing to every beat. David Guetta also provided a breathtaking level of energy, dropping many of his most popular hits as well as releases under his Jack Back alias. In fact, the set even caught the interest of fellow headliner Robbie Williams, who was seen at the Mainstage enjoying the performance with the crowd. Nicky Romero gave an emotional tribute to Avicii during his set, creating a beautiful spectacle that will go down in history as one of Untold’s most memorable moments.

This year’s edition of Untold celebrated the festival’s 5th anniversary in style, and further cemented its position as one of the most pioneering events in the electronic music industry. Every year, Untold manages to exceed expectations and play host to an array of the finest talents in the industry. One thing is for certain, next years edition of the festival will once again reach new heights and deliver even more unforgettable moments.
