Vini Vici electrify Tomorrowland’s Mainstage
Since their appearance to the scene in 2013, Vini Vici have revolutionalized the scene and managed to bring psytrance to the masses, quickly become the face of the genre, and their electrifying set at Tomorrowland’s Mainstage is nothing shorter than brilliant.
Aviram Saharai and Matan Kadosh are the names behind the project that has won the world. Although labeled as Psytrance, their cataclysmic, yet authentic & mesmerizing sound took them way beyond the psychedelic world spectrum. The Israeli duo hit No.72 at the “DJ Mag TOP100 DJ” list in 2017, and jumped to 34 in 2018! Despite their overwhelming schedule (with an average of over 200 shows per year), Vini Vici maintain their high energy pulse in the studio, repeatedly delivering pounding hits like: “Free Tibet Remix”, which is the all-time most-viewed psytrance song with nearly 60,000,000 views on Youtube, and the first song ever to make it into Beatport overall Top10 chart (#2). ‘Great Spirit‘, ‘The Tribe‘, ‘Chakra‘, ‘Adhana‘ and more recently ‘Untz Untz‘, are some of the tracks that are part of the duo’s tracklist and of other great DJs.
It feels like Vini Vici have found the golden formula, a flawless combination of Psy Trance and Big Room sounds blended with sensational reworks of all-time classics to sing along, the whole within their unique hard hitter style. If we sum up their sound with the spectacular visuals graced by Tomorrowland’s Mainstage… well… We are in AWE.
Opening their set with a mental ID, the Israeli duo continued playing their own remix with WHITENO1SE of the beautiful ‘What’s Up?’ Non Blondes. They then moved along with ‘Untz Untz’ and ‘Chakra’, to surprise the crowd with a rework of ‘Forever Young’ that put a smile on the faces of every attendee. It was also time for honor ‘Highlight Tribe’, their iconic remix of Free Tibet that catapulted them to a star level after Armin van Buuren played it during Asot 747 , back in January 2016. The music then stopped for a couple of minutes due to technical problems caused by the hard rain, but Matan brilliantly saved the show with an epic moment when he got up on the DJ booth paraphrasing Bob Marley and said: “Some People get wet, other dance in the fucking rain”. Vini Vici then continued with their song with Blastoyz and Jean Marie ‘Gaia’, to continue the madness with what can be described as an electrifying remix of ‘Insomnia’ from legendary group Faithless, not recommended for the faint of heart.
The rain continued creating struggles, but the second short technical break made them come back even stronger with another sensational rework, this time Pink Floyd‘s ‘Another Brick in The Wall’. Following came ‘Ping Pong’, ‘The Tribe’, more reworks on Bon Jovi‘s ‘It’s my life’, Queen‘s ‘Ay-Oh’ and a Die Antwoord‘s ‘I Fink U Freaky’ one that could only be described as a mindblowing mental explosive version. Wow! Vini Vici perfectly ended their set with ‘Alive’, a track produced together with R3HAB ft. Pangea & Dego that sings:
I had a vision, Of a world in harmony, I saw the light, shining above us, While we lived our lives in peace, The tide, is slowly turning, It’s a new reality, You and I, we’ll build a kingdom, Just as far as the eye can see.
