Best of: Hardwell
Our dedicated ‘Best of’ playlist on Spotify takes a weekly dive into your favourite artists’ discography to curate a selection of their greatest hits, forgotten masterpieces and new tunes. Allowing you to enjoy the best of their catalogue in one place. This week, we focus on one of the fathers of the big room house movement and former number 1 DJ in the world, Hardwell.
Despite having been on tour hiatus for almost a year now, Hardwell has managed to retain his reputation as one of the very best in the game. Over the years, he has helped revolutionise the world of electronic dance music thanks to his incredible releases and spectacular live shows constantly raising the bar for himself and others. He recently released his long-awaited compilation album via his imprint Revealed Recordings. ‘Hardwell Presents Revealed Vol. 10‘ features 51 tracks from the best upcoming names in the scene and of course the latest release from Hardwell himself ‘Retrograde‘, the highly anticipated ‘old-school ID’ which fans have been waiting for since he premiered it at Ultra Europe 2018.
Hardwell boasts an incredible number of stand-out releases which were able to be successful both on the dance floor and at home for casual listeners. His most iconic tracks like ‘Spaceman‘, ‘Countdown‘ with MAKJ and ‘Apollo‘ featuring Amba Shepherd are still being played at festivals today and have accumulated hundreds of millions of streams across platforms. Die-hard Hardwell fans will, of course, know the Dutch maestro started out producing more techy and dirty dutch songs in the late 2000s before finding his success in big room and progressive house. Despite the tracks from this time like ‘Yeh‘ and ‘Enigma‘ from 2008 being in a completely different genre, it is still possible to hear the distinct signature sound and an incredible pursuit for quality in them.
