D’Angello & Francis talk Tomorrowland Mainstage appearance & huge Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Bassjackers collaboration
Dynamic duo D’Angello & Francis are no strangers to success. Signed to Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike‘s Smash The House imprint, their talent is recognized by some of the biggest names, and rightfully so. You can find their name on festivals like Tomorrowland annually, with their energetic sets that prove to draw crowds time and again. They are constantly making their way around the globe with their packed tour schedule – something that the is a true mark of their music going global.
The demand is clearly high for D’Angello & Francis and it’s clear for all to see why it is so. In addition to all of this, they now have been part of a huge collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Bassjackers called ‘The Flight’ and the duo sat down with We Rave You to talk about it.
How was your Tomorrowland?
Insane! Yes. This year was really interesting for us, we have a lot of new music ID’s that we introduced in our set, and the crowd’s response was amazing. We also joined some of our DJ friends on stage. It’s always a happy gathering in our home country Belgium.
You played your new track ‘The Flight’ at the Main Stage, how was that?
We premiered this track already at Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s ‘Garden Of Madness’ in Belgium, now we had the honor to do this again at the Tomorrowland Main Stage, which is absolutely an unforgettable experience. It’s one of the most influential and breathtaking stages of the world and millions of people worldwide are watching it online as well, so it’s hard to describe the feeling to be up there. We can only enjoy the reactions we are getting from the fans now that the track is out.
What inspired you to make this track?
We already made a huge banger with Bassjackers called ‘All Aboard’ in a Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike edit. This track has reached 15 million streams by now and still going strong at the festivals. The track was based on a train experience and includes many real train sounds like horns, switching rails, grinding wheels. We had to come up with an even stronger follow-up, so we decided to ‘take the plane’ this time.
You’re on a roll on the Smash The House label, what can we expect in the future?
We keep doing what we’re doing, we have some crazy big room tracks that we are working on. Meanwhile we are developing more and more our own sound and try to bring something new by crossing over genres. You’ll hear more experimental work from us in the future.
Where can we find you guys playing in the next few weeks?
Next up is Amsterdam Dance Event. We’ll be playing Billboard’s World Club Tour and at the Smash The House label night. After that we’re back to Asia!
No need to switch your phones to airplane mode for this one, D’Angello & Francis’ mega collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Bassjackers is out on iTunes here.
