Funky French duo Faul & Wad are back with a brand new tune “Lucky Star”. Reworking fellow French act Superfunk‘s 2000 hit-single featuring Ron Carroll, Faul & Wad are giving the 20-year-old classic a modern Deep House twist. The track was Superfunk’s breakout single and sold more than 500,000 units worldwide, reaching #42 on the UK Chart.
Starting off with a euphoric feel, Carrol’s reverb-soaked vocals combine with soft pads as strings gradually ascend, before the plucky bassline enters the mix. Pitched down vocals give the track an authentic club-vibe before the original version’s guitar and revamped piano chords amaze the listener. Undoubtedly made for the dancefloor, the rhythm continues after the chorus, before a short break & build-up listeners with a hands-in-the-air feel prior to the second chorus.
Having disbanded in the mid-2000s, last year saw Superfunk regroup and launch the project once again. Their debut single’s label, Black Jack Records, which has been inactive since the same time period, has also been reborn, fueling the group’s return. Now, they and their hit-single are being launched back into the stratosphere with the help of Faul & Wad.
