Afrojack’s iconic ‘Annie’s Theme’ turns 7 years old
Afrojack‘s 2012 electro house smash-hit “Annie’s Theme” is already celebrating its 7th anniversary! Released through his label, Wall Recordings, the track represents what was a golden era for the giant Dutchman, wherein 2012 alone, he collaborated with Jay Sean and remixed a Pitbull & Enrique Iglesias hit!
The track locked up the #1 spot on the Beatport electro house just 5 days after its release and retained its spot in the top 10 for another month, before exiting the chart in February of the following year! A bona fide club track, it earned support from the likes of Hardwell, David Guetta, Tiësto, Dada Life, Bassjackers, NERVO, Sander van Doorn and Bob Sinclair, just to name a few. 2012 also saw releases such as ‘So High’ with Jay Sean and a monstrous remix of Pitbull & Enrique Iglesias’ ‘I Like (How It Feels)’ which notched up Gold certification in Australia and platinum in both Canada and Mexico.
By his standards, 2012 was somewhat of a quiet year in comparison to the likes of 2010 & 2011, where worldwide hits such as ‘Take Over Control” with Eva Simons and ‘Give Me Everything’ with Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo and Nayer raked in a combined 17x platinum and 3 gold certification plaques. 2014 saw the release of his debut studio album; ‘Forget The World’, and since then, he’s been a mainstage staple at every major festival in the world.
