See the results of the MTV EMA ‘Best Electronic’ category
The yearly MTV EMAs went down recently, and this year was as stacked as ever. With artists like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, BTS and more all taking home the awards in their categories, it seemed like nearly everyone who is everyone in the mainstream pop world was being mentioned or was in attendance at the massive-scale event which took place in Seville, Spain. It wasn’t just pop stars that were talked about all night though, and the edm world was very well represented with Afrojack presenting the award category for ‘Best Collaboration’ and The Chainsmokers up for two nominations but the ‘Best Electronic’ category takes our attention.
This year, the nominees were as follows:
- Calvin Harris
- DJ Snake
- The Chainsmokers
- Martin Garrix
- Marshmello
With all artists having a momentous year, it could truly have been anyone’s game but in the end it was Martin Garrix who took home the award. After just missing out on being DJ Mag’s No.1 DJ of the world for a fourth time, this is the perfect way to make up for it. Accepting his award via satellite, he apologies for not being able to attend the ceremony and thanked everyone for their huge support. A well deserved winner, Garrix proves time and time again why he is worthy of all the achievements and successes that come his way.
As well as this, Avicii and MATTN both won in their respective categories of ‘Best Swedish Act’ and ‘Best Belgian Act’ and Alan Walker, Kygo and DJ Snake all received nominations in the ‘Best Norwegian Act’ and ‘Best French Act’ categories. What a good year for edm at the 2019 edition of the MTV EMAs!
