Marcus Schössow & Matthew Felner pres Gardenstate – Journal Space
Gardenstate is an amazing underground project, where Swedish pioneer of dance music Marcus Schössow and his friend Matthew Felner have joined their talents and are delivering mesmerising tracks, one after another. They are back with their fourth release of the year, a progressive house track called ‘Journal Space’, just released on Avanti, the sub-label of Black Hole Recordings, founded by the Dutch icon Tiësto. Over the years, Schössow has really made a name for himself on the scene, he has gained recognition from the biggest names of the industry like Armin van Buuren, Steve Angello, and Pete Tong, played some of the biggest festivals all around the world and founded his own label Code Red Music. For the past year he has been exploring the underground sounds a little bit more and spending some quality time working on the gardenstate project. Here is what Marcus says about the project:
‘I love doing and playing this kind of music. It challenges me and makes music fun again. It’s actually kinda funny, but when we play as Gardenstate in the clubs I can see people actually listening to what’s going on, not just drop after drop reaction. People actually have to use their brains and at the end of the music experience, they are taken to a new place inside their heads. The journey is the beauty of it!’
‘Journal Space’ is a dark, mysterious track, which will make you feel like you’re traveling through another dimension. The melodic synths, combined with a hard, deep bassline, featuring some harsh, electronic elements, altogether bring us a really spectacular and unique banger. It can be heard that it has been influenced by various genres, mostly by progressive house, trance and also some techno. What makes it even more special is the contrast that’s presented in the song, darkness versus light, hard beats versus light, melodic synths.
We are really thrilled to keep discovering the different sides that Marcus can enchant us with, the Gardenstate project also has its own playlist on Spotify, called INSPIRATIONS, which features a mixture of carefully picked melodic techno, techno and progressive tracks.
