Martin Garrix speech at UEFA Euro 2020 Draw Ceremony

During this year’s ADE, the iconic Dutch artist Martin Garrix announced at his sold out solo show at RAI Amsterdam that he would be composing the official anthem for the UEFA Euro 2020. Now some weeks after, the talented producer has made a special guest appearance at the contest draw ceremony to talk about this project, which he considers to be one of the biggest ones in his career.

Martin Garrix attended this past Saturday to the ceremony that took place in Romania’s capital city Bucharest, which seems like it has become the EDM capital of the week after the two megapromoters Alda and Insomniac allianced to present their new festival SAGA that will be held in this country. The young artist jumped on stage wearing an elegant suit to discuss with the show hosts Reshmin Choudhury and Pedro Pinto his feelings about the responsibility of composing this anthem. As it’s normal on Martijn, he shared his happiness and thanked for being offered this fantastic opportunity at the time he outlined how both football and music go hand to hand at sharing positive values bringing people together and being a language that everyone speak and understand. This message is the one he intends to send out with his upcoming song that will support the competition slogan ‘Join The People’, which is more representative than ever with the competition being held in 12 different countries for the first time in its history. In his speech the STMPD owner stated:

“It’s a language on its own, you don’t need lyrics, everyone understands it, it’s about the feeling. Whenever you’re on stage or playing sports or when you’re in the crowd and your country scores a goal, that is the moment that we live for so I try to capture that moment, that feeling and put it in a song”

To understand the magnitude of such achievement, just one electronic music artist before has been in charge of producing the official music anthem for a national football competition. That man was non-other than the living legend David Guetta with his classic ‘This One’s For You’ with Zara Larsson.

Now, time has come for Garrix to stand up and be the man that will warm up the crowd ahead of this UEFA Euro 2020 tournament. He could not be more excited for this and made sure fans are too by sharing his speech on his social media.
