The newest film from Will Smith (which also stars Vanessa Hudgens and DJ Khaled among the cast) ‘Bad Boys for Life’ or alternatively titled ‘Bad Boys 3’ is currently a box office smash. On opening weekend, it made an estimated $34 million and topped the box office charts with everyone flocking to see it in cinemas and filling up the screens. It’s the third film in the series and is set to have the title of the biggest January release ever, so what if we told you that Dimitri Vegas was originally meant to be in it?

Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah disclosed in an interview with HLN that they had first picked Dimitri Vegas to play the role of  Zway-Lo (the main villain’s henchman) which is now played by Nicky Jam who also works within the music industry. It may seem odd at first, but when you look at the Belgian DJ’s acting credits, it makes complete sense. To date, he’s starred in ‘Rambo: Last Blood’, ‘Men in Black: International’, ‘Lukas’ and was a ‘Sub-Zero’ DLC character in the Mortal Kombat 11 game. With a lot of acting experience under his belt, he would’ve been a great addition to the already star-studded cast.

The reason for him not being in the cast was due to unfortunate visa issues and strict union regulations not allowing him to be present. The directors are determined to have him star in their next movie though. Speaking more about Dimitri, they had this to say:

“He was supposed to be joining the cast, yes. He’s our brother and we really wanted him in the movie. Dimitri is a movie genius, he almost knows more about it than we do.”

We can expect to see Dimitri Vegas’ acting career flourish even more in the future and we can’t wait for it!
