Rosalía gets the Gesaffelstein treatment with a remix of her lastest single ‘A Palé’

Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalía has achieved international success in recent years thanks to her knack for taking her modern twist on traditional flamenco music and using it to collaborate with artists as diverse as James Blake, Pharrell Williams, and Travis Scott. Now, her latest solo effort A Palé, originally released in November 2019, has been given the once over by French industrial wizard Gesaffelstein.

The original is dark, jumpy, and somewhat chaotic, and it’s these traits that Gesaffelstein maxmises in his remix. Sharp breakbeats, bloopy and bright synth lines, and a dark yet sparkling atmosphere, perfectly compliment Rosalia’s stacatto vocal takes, which merge almost spoken-word rapping and whispery demi-sung hooks. The result is a rare treat, being a remix that will appeal to fans of urban music and dark indutrial electronic alike. A bit of clever mix wizardry and it could even be slotted into a melodic techno set as something of a daring interlude.
