‘TIM’ by Avicii scoops two awards at Swedish Grammis ceremony
Almost two years on from his death, the world continues to remember Avicii, with his posthumous LP ‘TIM’ winning two Grammis at the Swedish awards show, according to TIM co-producer, Carl Falk. The album, which was released last year, featured huge hits like Tim’s long-time Chris Martin (Coldplay) collaboration ‘Heaven’, and gave fans the treat of new music, in the shape of Aloe Blacc collaboration ‘S.O.S’, which scored huge commercial success. Now, Falk, who helped to complete much of the album with many of the tracks still left unfinished following Avicii’s death in Oman, in April 2018, has issued the following statement:
“When someone close to you passes, the emptiness becomes a mission. [Avicii] told me that this was the first time he’d enjoyed making music in years, so I had to make this as good as I could to honor him and our friendship.”
The friendship of Falk and Bergling (Avicii) was a well-publicised one with the 2017 Avicii docu-movie ‘True Stories’ highlighting their bromance as they travelled together and worked in various studios on the road, along with Tim’s dog, a pup named Liam. Together the pair worked on many tracks, with Falk overseeing the production of records like “Ain’t A Thing,” “Bad Reputation,” and “Fades Away.”
