Gorillaz and Thundercat take you to ‘Cracker Island‘ with their lively new offering.

The Grammy-winning virtual band formed by 2D, Murdoc, Russel Hobbs and Noodle is back stronger than ever, colouring 2022 with an exciting tour but also the release of new music. When at the end of April Gorillaz kicked off their world tour and revealed the new setlist, they included two new tracks on it that they hadn’t played before. One of them is ‘Cracker Island’, an upbeat pearl by Gorillaz featuring Thundercat.

Recently, at Primavera, Gorillaz took the crowd wild with ‘Cracker Island’, something that had been happening since they debuted it in Uruguay, and now you can finally grab it all to yourself. This magnificent piece of electronica is available on the usual platforms, via Parlophone Records.

For their first release of 2022, this virtual formation didn’t skimp on style and recruited the talented bassist and twice-Grammy winner Thundercat, who makes a brilliant contribution to this funky Gorillaz production. Damon Albarn shares with Thundercat the layers of vocals that punctuate this bass-heavy track. Dichotomous, it exalts at the same time a refreshing glow and a dark and mysterious aura, almost like an ultramodern thriller. All elements strongly punctuate this groovy-heart production, which seems to take you by the hand towards ‘Cracker Island’. Slick tunes that never disappoint, that’s Gorillaz’s signature and that is very much in evidence here.

After their European stop, the band will spread their funky sound throughout Australia, starting on the 22nd for an appearance at Splendour In The Grass, on the 24th in Melbourne for a sold-out show, passing through Sydney on the 26th and ending on the 28th in Adelaide. This Australian stop-over marks Gorillaz’s return to the continent after twelve years. Find out how to get your tickets here, while you listen to ‘Cracker Island’:
