Earlier yesterday, Josh Gabriel of the American electronic duo Gabriel & Dresden took to Instagram to reveal he suffered a heart attack a few weeks ago. “The hardest part is the reality that I must step back from touring until I have recovered. I’m going to miss playing for you and seeing everyone’s smiling faces on the dancefloor. Now it’s time for me to focus on my physical and mental health,” said Gabriel.

In a rather shocking post, Josh Gabriel explained the reasoning behind his heart attack. Stating that the incident “made a lot of sense” in large part from “feelings of burnout, exhaustion and overall being pushed to [his] limit.” Luckily, Gabriel also made sure to first state that while he is recovering, he is doing okay and is already home.

“In the spirit of bringing awareness to the importance of taking care of ourselves (especially those in the nightlife industry), I wanted to write honestly to keep the conversation going about self-care, stress reduction, and finding balance in life… I am happy to say that while I’m gone, Dave Dresden will be carrying the DJ torch at shows for both of us until I come back and am very grateful to him for his help. Although the last weeks have been hard, I feel only positive changes in my life will come as a result.” – Josh Gabriel, Instagram

Gabriel & Dresden are currently in the middle of their ‘Gabriel & Dresden + Friends’ tour that has three more stops with new cities soon to be added. Changes for each of these upcoming lineups will be announced soon.

We Rave You wish Josh Gabriel a speedy recovery and more than anything, are glad he is home and on the road to full health. There is currently no timetable for his return to the stage, but Gabriel has indicated that he will return.
