The Chainsmokers to become first musical act to perform in space

Home Uncategorized The Chainsmokers to become first musical act to perform in space

The Chainsmokers are about to take their performance to another stratosphere, literally. In just a few years, the group will take their production 20 miles above Earth to put on a performance that figuratively and literally might never be topped.

Just this past week, it was announced that The Chainsmokers (Alex Pall and Drew Taggart) signed themselves up for a future trip in a pressurized capsule tethered to a stratospheric balloon in which they plan to record a DJ set on the edge of space inside the capsule. The flight will be in part of the exploration company, World View, whose mission is to “inspire the global community to rediscover Earth.”

“We have always dreamed of going to space and are stoked to collaborate with World View to have this adventure and experience. We know the views of both Earth and space are going to be incredible and inspiring and we hope to leverage this flight for creativity on future projects.” – The Chainsmokers

The Grammy-winning duo will be among the first people to usher in the new commercial space tourism flights from World View, all set to happen in 2024. The Chainsmokers have always been known for creating their own path, but this has to be up there with the most innovative thing they have ever done. Flights for the upcoming exploration trips will cost $50,000 with an initial deposit of $5,000, and the entire experience will last six to eight hours.

“One of our goals is to make space tourism more accessible to people from all walks of life, including artists, who we know can tell powerful stories after seeing the wonder of Earth and space. World View is proud to be the first space tourism company to provide this experience to musical artists.” – Ryan Hartman, Chief Executive Officer at World View

The Chainsmokers just finished the full rollout of their newest album, ‘So Far So Good,’ and are currently on their summer tour. Their newest song, “Time Bomb,” was just released this past Friday.
