Gorillaz debuted their new collaboration in the middle of their performance at All Points East festival where Damon Albarn leaked ‘It’s kind of a mad song.

Everyone at All Points East festival last weekend was expecting a great performance from headliners Gorillaz. What nobody expected was that in the middle of that performance a new track would be premiered. To kick off the second leg of their European tour, Gorillaz headed to Victoria Park to offer magic to the All Points East festival crowd. For this appearance, they brought along De La Soul, Shaun Ryder, Popcaan, Moonchild Sanelly and Mos Def, but the big wow came when other artists stepped on stage.

As Gorillaz’s headline set was halfway through, co-founder Damon Albarn picked up the mic and addressed the crowd saying:

‘We’re gonna play an entirely new song now. It’s kind of a mad song, to be honest with you, and I want to introduce Tame Impala … and Bootie Brown.’

Together on stage, Damon, Kevin Parker from Tame Impala and Bootie Brown made the world premiere of ‘New Gold’, the big track that brings together Gorillaz with these two power acts. This new offering from Gorillaz became available for pre-save shortly after the performance on their official website, which could mean that the official release of ‘New Gold’ may be very soon.

Premiered in style, this track is the second work Gorillaz have unveiled this summer, following their big collaboration with ThundercatCracker Island‘. ‘New Gold’ is the second time Gorillaz and Bootie Brown collide, after 2005’s ‘Dirty Harry‘, and a debut collaboration with Australians Tame Impala, also headlining the All Points East festival this year.

This memorable moment deserves to be revisited and heard. Relive the moment of the world premiere of ‘New Gold’ at All Points East festival below:
