The true, versatile nature of Nicky Romero is on full display once again, as he has turned his hand to creating another meticulous dance-pop anthem.

The latest Nicky Romero offering arrives in the form of ‘I Hope That It Hurts’, for which he enlists the vibrant vocal talents of American singer-songwriter Norma Jean Martine. This spirited new radio-friendly release champions sparkling progressive melodies within a busy top-line that perfectly compliments the punchy percussion and bassline it floats so effortlessly upon. It follows up a handful of previous releases from the Protocol Recordings frontman this year, including the anthem ‘Afterglow’ and his groove-infused ‘Perception EP’. Norma is no stranger to the dance realm either, having previously collaborated with the likes of Ofenbach and Lost Kings in the past.

Speaking on his new production, Nicky provided this insight into how the record came together:

“‘I Hope That It Hurts’ is a special song to me, as the whole creative process was quite a journey. I fell in love with the first demo of the song, but it was originally too far away from my sound. So my biggest challenge was to turn this beautiful song into something I felt comfortable with without losing the DNA of the original writing and Norma’s voice, which captivated me when listening to the very first version of it. She really brought the song to the next level with her amazing performance. I’m really excited to share this one with the world.”
