The Swedish producers worked in tandem and balanced each other’s techno levels.

This b2b was long overdue. The joint appearance of Adam Beyer and Cirez D, the techno alias of Eric Prydz, was one of the most anticipated moments at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, and the moment did not disappoint in the slightest. The two Swedish artists worked in tandem, in a symbiosis so perfect that the two together became one musical personality. The lights flickered with Cirez D’s trance-like arpeggios and the lasers fired ammunition to the sound of Adam Beyer’s dark drums. It was an epic two-hour journey that felt like an odyssey through sideral space, around the galaxy where exquisite techno dwells. All of this took place on the iconic Resistance stage on Ultra Miami’s extremely strong second day.

Cirez D’s b2b with the Drumcode boss was crafted with the sound that truly represents both artists, with no shortage of music from each other’s labels. The journey began with the sounds of ‘Envelopes‘ by Cirez D, which immediately put everyone in a floating and mystical mood. Beyer continued to mix the dreamier tracks with more prominent percussion sounds, creating a velvety rollercoaster where the mood ascended to the trance clouds and descended to the more industrial tracks. There were highs and lows of energy, orchestrated with great mastery to command the mood of the crowd. Amidst the swells, we heard Drumcode protégé Eli Brown‘s arrangement of Josh Wink‘s ‘Higher State Of Consciousness‘ and also Plasmic Honey‘s ‘Dance Slut‘.

This four-hand performance offered a mature and consistent sound that revealed their experience in the art. The audience could hardly contain themselves when one of the hottest tracks of the moment was played. Yes, ‘Rumble‘ by Skrillex, Fred again.. and Flowdan were heard at this b2b, which also featured other strong artists such as Joyhauser and RebÅ«ke. Bart Skills‘ just-released ‘Roll The Dice‘ was not to be missed, as it has been at Beyer’s performances lately. The journey ended with a version of the iconic, dreamy song ‘Domino‘ in a final beat without mercy that left the crowd in the stratosphere without bringing them back down to earth. You can check the full setlist here. It was mythical and mysterious from start to finish.
