Armin van Buuren welcomes couple on radio show who share their emotional ongoing story with cancer: Watch

Armin van Buuren showed his true humbleness as he granted a couple’s birthday wish and brought them on for a guest appearance on his ASOT radio show.

Every day in electronic music, there are always special things happening. The community continues to amaze in ways like no other genre. Armin van Buuren is the latest in this tale as he granted a couple a birthday wish of a lifetime as he welcomed them in to make a guest appearance on his A State of Trance radio show, but it was their story that captivated audiences worldwide.

A State of Trance has been one of the most recognizable and beloved brands in dance music over the last twenty years. During its time, van Buuren has created a musical behemoth with countless tentacles. However, with all of the endeavors that fall underneath van Buuren’s label, there is no question that one of his most beloved is his weekly ASOT radio show. With millions of listeners every week, it is the place where van Buuren highlights new music, shares amazing stories and conducts exclusive interviews. But for a portion of the show, he didn’t welcome in a new artist or tease a new ID he had been working on, he instead gave a lucky couple a birthday gift they will never forget. However, once this couple began to share their story, it was clear that this granted wish was more special than most.

As part of his ‘Service for Dreamers’ series van Buuren welcomed Sonya and Simon from Slovenia onto the show to play one of their favorite tracks. As he always does, van Buuren allowed the couple to share their story in which Sonya detailed that she wanted to give Simon a 40th birthday present that he would never forget and money could not buy. She mentioned that she kept it a secret until 30 minutes before the show as he had no idea where they were going until they arrived at the ASOT studio.

Sonya then continued to share that two years ago, she was diagnosed with cancer of an unknown origin, and Simon has been taking care of her along with their kids as she continues to battle the illness. The story was incredibly moving and generated a cheer from the entire ASOT team that was present in the studio. As Simon got to tell his wife thank you and give the title of the next track, you could see that it was a moment they will never forget and proves why this community is unlike any other.
