DJ is shot dead by customer evicted from bar earlier in the evening
While most patrons hang out with friends and listen to DJs play the soundtrack to their evenings, sometimes attendees can get out of hand. Unfortunately, a recent patron evicted from an Indian bar returned later in the night armed with a rifle.
Late Sunday night in Jharkhand capital Ranchi, a bar full of customers out to enjoy music and hang with friends sadly ended in tragedy. The Xtreme Bar and Grill in Ranchi is a popular spot in India for DJs and nights out with friends. During this past weekend, a rowdy customer was confronted during the evening after causing an issue on the dance floor. Security was forced to intervene and eventually removed the patron from the establishment earlier in the evening. According to Vishal Singh, who runs the bar, the trouble started around 10:30 pm when “We threw out a group of men… and informed the police,” with one person being taken into custody.
Later in the early hours of Monday morning, around 1:19 am, one of the evicted patrons returned with a rifle and came upon a bar worker and DJ, Sandeep Pramanik, also known as Sandy, and promptly fired several rounds directly in his chest. In CCTV footage, Pramanik appears stunned and takes a few steps forward before collapsing and unfortunately passing away. While the gunman hid his face under his t-shirt during the attack, authorities claimed to have identified the suspect who is currently on the run. The deputy superintendent of police in Hatia, Pramod Mishra, noted that the suspect has a previous criminal record and is searching for the assailant.
