Josh Wink celebrates 30 years of Ovum imprint with new music

Ever since he broke out with the success of his 1995 single, A Higher State Of Consciousness, Josh Wink has continued to deliver incredible anthems while supporting the dance music scene with his imprint, Ovum Recordings. 30 years later, the Philadelphia producer is still going strong and will spend 2024 celebrating his music and imprint with a wide range of new music and events. Kicking things off, a new 2-track EP titled after the imprint will be released shortly with the lead single, The Deepness out today.

Having run one of the most successful independent labels over the last 30 years, founder Josh Wink has more than earned the right to a victory lap. 2024 will see the Philadelphia native celebrate 30 years of Ovum Recordings with new music as well as plenty of exciting live events.

“I always want to grow, push myself and move into new areas of musical expression and creativity. With ‘The Deepness’, I believe if you know my music, you can tell it’s a Wink production on the track. However, it shows a more organic, deep, and sensual side to my usual production output. I decided to step out of my comfort zone with these tracks and use an outside mix engineer (through the heavy suggestion of Matty B at Ovum) and sent the stems to Hannes Bieger in Berlin to mix. We worked for several weeks (through emails) on getting the mixes right, and then BAM. ‘The Deepness’ was birthed. I am thrilled to have created something special like this, and having the whole process open me up to tackle hurdles I was not accustomed to. The track was then given an impeccable mastering at Calyx studios.”

Beyond the new music, Josh Wink has a full year of events planned to celebrate and honor the past, present, and future of Ovum. Having already celebrated his annual Winkdown event in April this year, he will spend the rest of spring and summer performing across Europe and the United States. With a full slate of solo shows and festivals as well as an appearance at Carl Cox’s ‘Birthday On The Beach’ this August, the Ovum legacy will be on display in full force throughout 2024.
