New study reveals which female DJs are making the biggest impact in 2024
While the boundaries of sexism remain within the electronic music industry (as well as much of the world), female DJs are continuing to make a bigger impact than ever. A new study looks to assemble data from various social media and other public points to determine which DJs are the most dominating.
Conducted by the team at Spin Genie, an online casino platform, the research utilizes data from key social platforms such as Spotify, TikTok, Instagram, and Google searches to evaluate the power and influence of artists. Utilizing the number of monthly listeners, followers on social platforms, and searches conducted, each artist is given a score out of 10 to determine their overall dominance. This research was done for both male and female DJs, providing unique insights into fanbases and online activity. On the men’s side, David Guetta topped the list with a score of 9.66 with Marshmello and Alok following close behind.
The women’s side is more interesting as the dominance of female DJs in the electronic music scene is a new trend and one that is a positive step forward for bringing equality and acceptance into the field. Topping the list is Charlotte de Witte and that probably comes as little surprise as the Techno superstar has been shattering boundaries in recent years through her KNTXT brand as well as history-making performance closing out Tomorrowland in 2022. With a score of 9.16, she easily beats out the second most dominant female artist on the list, Peggy Gou. From there, REZZ, Deborah de Luca, and Amelie Lens round out the top five as all of them have been key contributors and major draws for fans in recent years.
