Always striving for more and looking at every possible opportunity to revolutionize, British-Canadian techno legend Richie Hawtin announced a brand new show concept titled DEX EFX XOX. A show, which promises to stand at the forefront of improvisation and modern DJ technology. Richie will play only 2 DEX EFX XOX shows, one at the Movement Festival in Detroit and Sónar in Barcelona.
Both Sónar and Movement Festival hold special importance in the illustrious career of Richie Hawtin. He has debuted and performed various show concepts over the years at both festivals, including his famed Plastikman in 2010 and his CLOSE concept back in 2017. DEX EFX XOX builds upon the concepts of his series of compilations Decks, EFX & 909. It’s not hard to figure out how the new name has been upgraded. Richie Hawtin’s goal with DEX EFX XOX is to fuse the early foundations and the future of DJing, using various performance tools available today.
“Moving away from the current trend of shows giving the priority to the image rather than the sound, DEX EFX XOX brings the audience back into an immersive sound & lighting experience. More club than concert. DEX EFX XOX continues my personal exploration of improvisation using modern performance technology resulting in a unique sonic narrative for each and every show.”, said Richie Hawtin.
From co-designing his first DJ mixer MODEL 1 to co-founding the dominating digital retail platform Beatport, Richie Hawtin has never shied ever from a challenge, whether it be refining his own music using the latest technologies or influencing the electronic music world with breathtaking concepts. Now, with DEX EFX XOX, he is moving forward with his career like he only started it yesterday. Fans at both Movement and Sónar are in for a treat.
