“This is maybe my favourite solo EP in the last couple of years”, says Beyer.

For many artists, the studio is a second home. For Adam Beyer, it seems to be the first. It’s clear that the Drumcode boss is enjoying the most productive period of his career, and fans couldn’t be happier. Beyer ended 2023 strong and it was on the same note that he started this year. It’s June and the Ibiza-based Swedish artist has already hit the charts with the three-tracker ‘Let’s Begin‘, which sees him revisit past influences, and the remix of Sharam‘s ‘PATT (Party All The Time)‘ with Green Velvet and Layton Giordani, which saw him reach his first overall Beatport #1.

Now Adam Beyer returns to the charts with an incredible EP. After a long wait, ‘Ghost Kiss‘ is now available to stream and download on all the usual platforms via Drumcode.

This is not your typical techno EP. As with his other 2024 releases, Beyer is exploring new inspirations and new sounds with the aim of developing new pieces that break away from the standardised. This is what the artist has to say about his latest three-track offering:

“This is maybe my favourite solo EP in the last couple of years. I’ve been hammering all three tracks at various points in my sets over the last six months and they all feel like A-side material to me. My main goal doing those tracks was to make something that doesn’t sound like everything else out there at the moment. Drawing inspiration and sounds from other genres that might not be the current typical techno sound. Every song represents a strong emotion for me.”

On ‘Ghost Kiss’, Beyer is definitely exploring new sounds and mixing new influences. It’s not your typical commercial techno, but it’s still very much focused on the dancefloor. There are three tracks that are different from the rest, but also quite different from each other, making for an interesting addition to this summer’s playlists.

The title track has a striking rhythm, guaranteed by some finely tuned percussion. One of the standout elements of this track is the cavernous vocals and another is the ping-pong chanting, which gives it a mystique of terror and suspense, almost in the style of squid games.

Pilot‘ is completely different. More sparkling and with more open sounds, it brings in influences from indie pop and synth wave, with a very French-style vocal. The cadence of the narrative is very undulating and dreamy, for slow dancing, during the day, with your eyes closed. Well formulated, it has a very well structured build up and a drop that reminds you that this is techno after all.

Jack‘ closes the triology beautifully. It’s techno with a twist, drawing on elements of house and electro to provide another floor-ready track. As with the other two tracks, vocals are always present. In ‘Jack’ you’ll find different intensities, so you can enjoy the elements without losing the dance groove.

Another EP with Adam Beyer’s signature, adding to his Drumcode catalogue.
