Diplo shows off his incredible Jamaican property

For many years now, Diplo has stood head and shoulders above many of the electronic music community as an artist and pioneer. Fans interested in seeing how he lives can take a look at his incredible Jamaica home right here.

Built on a 50-acre piece of property, his home sits within the beautiful mountain landscape and the architecture was crafted to allow the surrounding views to reveal themselves as visitors climb through different parts of the home. Playing upon his own unique sensibilities as an artist and producer, the home is designed to combine wood, concrete, and greenery, offering a feeling that is both modern and nostalgic all at once. Within the home, he has added classic furniture and a library that seems set in the past which is perfectly contrasted with his high-end recording studio and modern gym. The home was designed with help from Lauren Crahan of Freecell Architecture, Gia Wolff, his own creative director Sara Nataf, and his assistant and first leutinent Katelyn Hinden to bring the project together.

The project was years in the making and one that required patience and precision to bring to life. Utilizing the pool and dinning area as its central motif, the house is conncetd by a series of walwkays and bridges that help seperate Diplo’s private space from guest accomodations. Built high up in the mountains, it is designed to utilize the changing light and weather of the region, while internally recycling it to create a space that is highly creative but also comfortable and contemplative. “One of the most inspirational things about this place is just hanging out by the banana trees by the pond with the turtles. There are stories and wonders everywhere, not just the house and the interiors. In the middle of the night, you’re surrounded by the soundtrack of Jamaica—a million cicadas and birds and crickets and always dancehall beats drifting in from miles away. It’s what I love about Jamaica, the sounds of the ocean, rivers, animals, buses, and chaos. We’re so high up we only hear it as a kind of soothing ambience. It feels like my medium.”
