Jamie xx created In Waves over four years, a period marked by personal reflection, the global pandemic, and his newfound passion for surfing. The album captures the emotional highs and dynamic energy of a mystical night out. The first single, “Treat Each Other Right,” is a powerful breakbeat anthem with futuristic soul elements. Jamie road-tested this track during his DJ sets, refining it based on crowd reactions.

Hometown headline show at London’s Alexandra Palace announced for 26th September

Recently, Jamie xx previewed the album during his celebrated The Floor residency at South East London’s Venue MOT from 16-25 May. These intimate, 300-capacity events featured ten consecutive parties with a secret lineup of collaborators and friends, including 2ManyDJs, Cooly G, Romy, Charli XCX, George Daniel, MJ Cole, Daphni, Nick Léon, DJ Python, Jockstrap, Doc Scott, and John Glacier. The series showcased exclusive new music, surprise appearances, and unique back-to-back sets, creating a buzz among fans.

Reflecting on In Waves, Jamie xx shares his excitement: “My new album, In Waves, will be out on September 20th. I am so unbelievably happy. It’s been a while, and a lot has happened in that time—ups and downs, growing up, figuring stuff out, and then forgetting it all many times over. Life-changing events and world-changing events. These waves we have all experienced together and alone. I wanted to make something fun, joyful, and introspective all at once. The best moments on a dance floor are usually that for me. I can’t wait to share it with you. Love, Jamie xx.”

To celebrate the album release, Jamie xx will headline a hometown show at London’s Alexandra Palace on 26th September, thereby ensuring an unforgettable performance.
