Recent years have seen The Weeknd soar to incredible heights as an artist and entertainer. His massive success has earned him an honor that no other Canadian artist has ever achieved.

Few artists have taken over the pop music space like The Weeknd has in recent years. While his early single, Can’t Feel My Face made him a household name, his 2020 album After Hours cemented him as a true icon. His growing spotlight and massive fanbase have now pushed him into a very elite company of artists and the first Canadian to earn such honors. Recently two more of his singles, Save Your Tears and Die For You earned RIAA Diamond Certifications, the sixth and seventh tracks in his catalog to do so. For those unaware of the certification, it is provided for singles that have sold 10 million units, a feat that The Weeknd has now done seven times.

In the age of streaming, the Diamond certification has become an even harder plateau to reach. Seven certified diamond singles are so rare, that The Weeknd is just the third artist ever to achieve the accomplishment. He is also the first Canadian artist to reach this level of success, making it an even more impressive honor for the star. Alongside the diamond certifications, he also had two other singles earn platinum certification, or 1 million sales as well. Those honors went to his singles Popular with Madonna and Playboi Carti as well as One Of The Girls alongside JENNIE and Lily-Rose Depp. The latter of which gave JENNIE the distinction of being the first K-Pop soloist to achieve the certification.
