Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter releases 17-minute ambient track ‘CHIROPTERA’: Listen
Thomas Bangalter, the acclaimed founder of the legendary French electronic music duo Daft Punk, has just released the CHIROPTERA soundtrack digitally. Created in collaboration with artist JR and choreographer Damien Jallet, this soundtrack accompanied a stunning performance by 154 dancers at the Paris Opera House’s forecourt on November 12, 2023. In conjunction with today’s digital release via Bangalter’s own Alberts & Gothmaan imprint, pre-orders for a vinyl edition, set for release on August 30, are now available here.
Moreover, the CHIROPTERA soundtrack only represents a portion of the preparatory music composed by Bangalter for the performance. To offer a more comprehensive experience, the full project, spanning 5 hours and 50 minutes of music, is now accessible as CHIROPTERA MATIERE PREMIERE on all streaming platforms. Additionally, a 10xLP vinyl record box set, limited to 200 numbered and signed copies, can be exclusively found at Galerie Perrotin in Paris and on the Atelier JR webshop.
In celebration of these releases, Bangalter debuts ALETHEIA 19, a sound installation crafted following his work on CHIROPTERA. This unique installation, featuring nineteen monophonic microgrooves cut on vinyl and presented in a simultaneous unsynchronized playback, is part of DANS LA LUMIERE, JR’s fourth exhibition at Galerie Perrotin in Paris. The exhibition showcases recent works inspired by the CHIROPTERA project and runs in the Espace Saint-Claude from June 7 to June 15.
Fans and collectors can now immerse themselves in Thomas Bangalter latest creations, both digitally and physically, as they continue to explore the innovative realms of electronic music and visual art.
