How to Perform With Only 1 CDJ

Home Tech How to Perform With Only 1 CDJ

Ever wondered how to keep the music going when you only have one CDJ? Here’s a neat trick by Mikhail Mihashu that lets you switch tracks smoothly using just one player and a mixer.

If you want to check out how to do this with a video tutorial, you can watch it here.

1. First, set up your mixer. Turn on the roll effect and set it to 8 beats. Make sure the effect is going to the master output. Now, turn on the effect.

2. Here’s where the magic happens: Push up the fader for the channel that isn’t playing music. Then, switch the effect to this silent channel.

3. Now, slowly pull down the fader for the channel that’s playing music. Surprise! The music keeps going, but it’s now looping on the channel that was silent before.

4. This trick gives you time to load a new track onto the CDJ. You can now prepare your next song without any awkward silence.

5. With this method, you can keep the party going non-stop, even with just one CDJ. It’s a great skill for beginner DJs or those working with limited equipment.
