They say that all trends and styles are due to come back around in future generations. Armand Van Helden is proving this to be true with his latest mix of a classic 80s hit.

The 1980s were a very different landscape for music and culture. While the synthesizer was making a larger impact on popular music, rock and roll and pop stars still ruled the decade. Although the music landscape has certainly evolved, bands like Def Leppard continue to resonate with audiences new and old. The members of the 80s rock group will be spending their summer on a massive tour alongside fellow icons Journey, electronic music fans have been treated to a fresh remix from Armand Van Helden. Taking on the group’s mid-tempo 1983 hit Photograph, Van Helden keeps the spirit of the original alive while crafting a foundation that is more suited for dance clubs than the guitar rock of the original.

Def Leppard vocalist Joe Elliott remains front and center on the track, while Armand Van Helden opens the remix with a driving house rhythm and filtered vocal sample. Elliott’s repeated delivery of the classic hook is the perfect sing-a-long for crowds around the planet, and the iconic refrain fits perfectly with the house production provided by Van Helden. With Def Leppard continuing to rock stages around the world, Van Helden has ensured that a new audience will have the opportunity to discover their classic hit.
