Fatman Scoop: His contribution to electronic music
From Skrillex to Hardwell, Yellow Claw and beyond, Fatman Scoop had a great contribution to the world of electronic music.
Since the word broke of Fatman Scoop sadly passing away after collapsing on stage at a concert in Connecticut, the music industry has taken time to reflect on his skills and ability to light up any crowd. Isaac Freeman III, as he was personally known, was a rapper but also someone who had a large contribution to the world of electronic music over the years, and we’re exploring some of his best collaborations with the biggest stars.
‘Recess’ with Skrillex, Kill The Noise & Michael Angelakos
The title track from Skrillex’s 2014 album ‘Recess’, this is up there as being one of Fatman Scoop’s most popular and famous electronic music collaborations of all time. The track itself samples Fatman Scoop’s previously released track ‘Be Faithful’.
‘SQUAD OUT!’ with Skrillex & Jauz
Another Skrillex collaboration, this time with Jauz. Known for its uncontained energy and crazy drop, ‘SQUAD OUT’ also has turned nine years old.
‘Left Right’ with Hardwell, Deorro & MAKJ
Released in 2019, ‘Left Right’ is reminiscent of Hardwell’s older energetic mainstage style, and has Fatman Scoop commanding the entire track with his iconic vocals. Hardwell has also taken to his Instagram Story to pay tribute to the artist, sharing a picture and the caption ‘Rest In Peace Legend’. MAKJ also posted a previous collaboration with him titled ‘Space Jam‘, stating ‘it was an honor to work with you’.
‘Don’t Stop The Madness’ with Hardwell & W&W
Another artist who has worked with Fatman Scoop multiple times, W&W also joined in for this 2015 track, the third single from Hardwell’s debut album.
‘Listen’ with Dillon Francis & Good Times Ahead
A more recent release from earlier this year, ‘Listen’ was taken from Dillon Francis & Good Times Ahead’s joint EP project ‘PERO LIKE’.
‘Our House’ with Bingo Players & Disco Fries
Proving that he was as in demand as ever, Fatman Scoop kept the electronic music collaborations coming with ‘Our House’, released only yesterday, 30 August. This marked his final track ever released before his untimely death. Disco Fries released the following statement on Instagram:
“The first icon that ever took a chance on us. The first vocalist in our booth. Always the kindest person in the room. There are no words for how hard this one hits.”
‘Rock the Boat’ with Bob Sinclar, Pitbull & Dragonfly
Fatman Scoop had been an in-demand vocalist going as far back as 2012 (and even earlier), with the release of this track with Bob Sinclar taken from the artist’s 2012 album ‘Disco Crash‘.
‘Reckless’ with Yellow Claw
If there’s a vocalist that matches Yellow Claw’s energy perfectly, its Fatman Scoop. Taken from their 2020 album ‘Never Dies‘, this was one of the standout tracks.
‘Wild’ with VINAI
Bringing the good days of big room back with this banger, ‘Wild’ is still one of VINAI’s most beloved tracks among fans.
‘Money’ with Ephwurd
Although the Ephwurd alias ceases to exist today in favour of the Taurus alias started by one of the members, this track still serves as a great throwback.
