Hardwell performed on the Freedom Stage during the first week of Tomorrowland 2024. To celebrate this, and following the wishes of his fans, he performed a Throwback EDM set on stage, which is now available to watch on YouTube.

The Initials

Hardwell flew all the way from Holland to the beautiful Benelux nation – Belgium – for Tomorrowland 2024. As we previously reported, Hardwell decided in favor of a poll for a throwback EDM set. In doing so, fans urged DJ Robbert van de Corput to bring back the period up to the mid-2010s. In other words, the “golden era”, as many people like to call it. In terms of sound and style, this means big room and progressive house, the iconic genres that defined the big festivals back then. Okay, sure, Hardwell had a bit of a clash with the SAGA festival in Romania, but during the first week of Tomorrowland 2024, he made up for the lost catch.

About the Set

Although these days the founder and leader of Revealed Recordings, Hardwell, is on the techno circuit, this was a little throwback to his beginnings. He slipped some truly classic tracks into the performance that would be memorable for anyone who followed the era. For example, he brought his own tracks like “Spaceman”, “Jumper” or “Apollo”. But he also provided a tribute to Tim Bergling, aka Avicii, with “Wake Me Up” in a Hardwell mashup. Or don’t forget “A Sky Full Of Stars”, an Avicii co-production that Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has already spoken about. He also put the spotlight on other great legends of the era, such as Showtek, W&W, and Knife Party. It’s also worth noting that he took one of the genre’s most defining tracks, “Mammoth”, from Tomorrowland’s big returning acts Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

Watch the almost one-hour nostalgia video below, fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a fun ride.
