Ben Böhmer has unveiled his third studio album, Bloom, released via Ninja Tune. The 11-track LP highlights Ben's talent for songwriting and composition, blending his signature electronic style with fresh creative elements. This album marks a confident return to his roots in improvisation, building on his success, which includes over 1 billion streams and a highly viewed live set on YouTube.
Despite performing over 200 shows in 2022, Ben has remained dedicated to honing his skills as a musician. Starting from his early days with the piano, he now crafts deeply emotional music with only a piano, microphone, and computer. Bloom showcases his ability to break free from the boxes he’s often placed in, inviting collaborators such as indie pop artist Lykke Li and synth-pop duo Oh Wonder to contribute to the album’s diverse soundscape.
While Ben’s exploration of new genres and tempos has earned praise from indie tastemakers, the album still carries his signature melancholic electronic tone. From the opening track “Martin” to standout moments like “Evermore,” featuring vocals by The Blaze’s Enfant Sauvage, the melodies take center stage.
The final single, “The Sun,” featuring Josephine Vander West of Oh Wonder, effortlessly captures the theme of rebirth that flows throughout the album. Moreover, its empowering lyrics blend seamlessly with Ben’s evolving sound, reflecting a delicate balance between overcoming adversity and embracing newfound strength.
