Joel Corry remixes Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s ‘Free’: Listen
Joel Corry has put his spin on Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding‘s track Free’ for his signature Joel Corry Remix.
Spawned from Harris’ seventh studio album, ’96 Months’ which was released a little over a month ago, the album touts previously unreleased songs, as well as doubles as a compilation album of songs that were released from 2015 to now. The album’s opener, Free, marked Harris’ fourth collaboration with Goulding and second track since their big reunion on Miracle.
When Joel Corry comes on to remix a track, you already know it’s destined to be a big one. Some monumental tracks that have the Corry touch include Ed Sheeran‘s Bad Habits, Megan Thee Stallion‘s Body, Elton John and Britney Spears’ Hold Me Closer, Megan Trainor‘s Made You Look, Shaed and Zayn‘s track Trampoline, Diplo’s track with Miguel Don’t Forget My Love, and the list goes on, all with amazing remix after amazing remix.
Despite Corry’s knack for taking a killer original and turning it into another heavy-hitting banger, we can’t forget some of his show-stopping original tracks such as Lonely, Out Out featuring Jax Jones, and of course his biggest hit to date, Head & Heart with MNEK, to name a few.
The Free remix is something special. Corry manages to keep the bones of everything we loved about the original track, mainly the nostalgic pads and chord structure, and just added a few other counterparts, including a bouncy bass line with chopped Goulding vocals landing into place on each beat. Corry put a little edge on this song, driving this song home.
