Home Events Creamfields 2024: one of the most exciting editions yet [Review]

From new stages to new artists, Creamfields had a new vision in mind for this edition and it paid off massively.

Packing out Daresbury once again in the name of electronic music, Creamfields descended onto the North of the UK at the end of August for the annual largest UK gathering of DJs and international acts. This year, they had a fresh approach to both its lineup and stages, with plenty of acts making their debut at the event along with the reveal of the world’s largest indoor mainstage structure. All of this combined for what was a truly unforgettable weekend.

When it came to Creamfields 2024, there was no shortage of international and national DJ talent in every genre and sub-genre imaginable. The usual suspects such as Armin van Buuren, Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix, Tiësto, Fatboy Slim, Bicep, Timmy Trumpet, CamelPhat and more were all present, but the lineup also offered a lot more in terms of new acts gracing the stages.

A certain genre that truly saw the spotlight shined on it this year was the world of hard & industrial techno with Teletech / XXL getting its own tent across the whole weekend. With the likes of Sara Landry, Azyr and other champions of the genre making their debuts, it was a massive weekend for the scene. Another debut stage takeover was no other than MEDUZA and James Hype‘s Our House concept, which sae the two also make their DJing debuts. Speaking to James Hype ahead of the set on site, he said to us: “I’m really excited to be here, it’s been a long time coming. I hope there’s as many people excited as I am so that we’ve got a big crowd there.” Spoiler alert: the crowds turned out in their masses, sporting Stereohype merchandise.

Another debut that meant the world to a particular artist was Fish56Octagon. Closing out the Pepsi Max trance tent on the Sunday evening, Creamfields crowds showed up in their masses. Read our interview with him here. Just ahead of the weekend, it was also announced that Steve Angello would go b2b with Disclosure for the very first time, creating envy all across the world for those that weren’t lucky enough to witness it. If that wasn’t enough for exciting debuts, one that truly got people talking was Lufthaus. Fronted by Robbie Williams, his electronic project had people curious to see what would go down on the Arc stage, and made for a big talking point across the weekend. Creamfields are known for adding diversity to their lineup, and this was one of its most diverse yet.

Of course, we can’t talk about Creamfields 2024 without talking about one of the main attractions, the new indoor mainstage. Removing the other outdoor mainstage, formerly known as Horizon, and replacing it with the indoor Zenless Zone Zero tent, it allowed them to create a mainstage that could stay open until 4AM on Saturday evening. Creating more space to fit huge acts. With an eye-catching stage design and even ceiling pyro where flames blasted throughout the entire space, even the artists were impressed by it.

Even though the music itself would be more than enough, Creamfields 2024 also provided entertainment in the form of its multiple activations and activities on site. From its fair ground thrill rides to brand activations from the likes of SHEIN and even its own pop up British-style pub, no part of the site was wasted. For the first time this year with its sponsors Rockstar, they also implemented a popup sneaker space, where festivalgoers could come and get their own pair of Rockstar shoes, completely customisable.
