Layton Giordani brought a techno remix to celebrate the 15th anniversary of deadmau5’s Strobe

One of the leading artists in the techno scene, Layton Giordani, has delivered another remix. This time, he took a look at deadmau5’s “Strobe”, which turned 15 years old this September since its 2009 release.

About the Anniversary

Who wouldn’t think about how quickly time passes when facing these facts day after day? One of electronic music’s most iconic releases, Strobe, is now 15 years old. It was a major milestone in the history of music, as it gave a big boost to the whole genre, but most of all to progressive house. Joel Zimmerman, aka deadmau5, released the track on Mau5trap on September 3, 2009, as the final track from his fourth studio album “For Lack of a Better Name”. The rest is history, as it has made a huge leap up the charts, and there can be no question that it deserves a worthy celebration for its 15+th anniversary. And for this, American-born Layton Giordani, one of the defining figures of new-wave techno and the Drumcode label, was a very good choice. It is interesting to note that Strobe, the electronic music masterpiece, was originally introduced as “Then We Stood Still”. Layton recalled his feelings about the track: “Strobe is undoubtedly one of my favourite dance records of all time and it was one of the first that got me into electronic music”.

About the Remix

Strobe has become one of deadmau5’s most successful and best-known tracks. Some of the biggest names in electronic music, such as KREAM, Lane 8, and Feed Me (aka Jon Gooch, British drum and bass DJ), have remixed it in the past. Now Layton Giordani has brought a major techno remix to the table, released on deadmau5’s label on 13 September. The up-and-coming artist continued his memories on the song, “It’s tough to put into words just how amazing it is to be able to remix this track but I will say this, deadmau5 was the first big artist to play my techno records when I was coming up so to have the honor of putting my own spin on this one is really special. I know the younger version of myself would be proud”. The remix puts this great track in a very new guise and provides it with a dance-floor pumping beat to make it interesting for fans of the techno genre. Another fact is, that deadmau5 is currently on tour, celebrating the artist’s 25th anniversary, called “retro5pective”, for which tickets are now available on the artist’s official website.
