Linkin Park begins new era with tour, album, and new music since Chester Bennington’s passing
Linkin Park returns with fresh music for the first time in seven years, marking a new chapter. Founding members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn, now joined by Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara as co-vocalist and drummer Colin Brittain, are ushering in this exciting era. The band’s upcoming album, From Zero, channels the past while embracing their current journey, blending their classic sound with fresh energy.
On September 6th, Linkin Park sat down with Apple Music‘s Zane Lowe for an in-depth conversation, discussing their legacy, creative evolution, and the process behind their return to the studio. The interview, set to air at 6 AM PT, promises an inside look at the band’s evolution over the last seven years.
This new chapter didn’t come with grand expectations. Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn quietly began meeting, initially just to reconnect. Their sessions gradually transformed into something more as they invited friends, including Armstrong and Brittain, to join them. The natural chemistry between the musicians grew, leading to the creation of From Zero. The project became a reflection of their rediscovered passion and energy, reminiscent of their earliest days as a band.
Shinoda reflected on the new era, explaining that the album title, From Zero, not only nods to their original band name, Xero, but also symbolizes their ongoing journey. The album blends past, present, and future, reflecting both gratitude for their history and optimism for what’s ahead.
The single “The Emptiness Machine” delivers the signature Linkin Park sound, blending Shinoda’s melodies with Armstrong’s powerful vocals. As the band forges ahead with renewed energy, From Zero represents a rebirth for Linkin Park, ready to explore new musical horizons.
These surprises herald the arrival of LINKIN PARK’s first album since 2017, FROM ZERO, on November 15. Pre-order/Pre-save here via Warner Records.
