The track was co-written by Avicii, Ash Pourmouri, Salem Al Fakir, Vincent Pontare, and Veronica Maggio. The song soared to the top of the charts in countries such as Austria, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Sweden, and the UK.
During the height of Avicii, arguably all of his tracks were instant classics, but there was something about ‘Hey Brother’ that sonically hit all the right spots. It has the signature Avicii sound, powerful bluegrass/folk vocals sung by Dan Tyminski, heartfelt lyrics and an unbelievable breakdown, solidifying Avicii’s prescence as one of the greatest.
This past May, ‘Hey Brother’ surpassed 1 billion streams, not only adding this song to his collection of others to accomplish this feat, but making this track a testament to Avicii’s enduring popularity and lasting impact he still very much has on the world.
11 seems so young for a song with such an old soul, but its another reminder of Tim Bergling’s extraordinary talent for bringing cultures, countries, and fans of all sorts of genres together. After Bergling’s passing in 2018, we still celebrate his music in a way that never passes. Playing his monumentual songs to this day still feel as if they were just released and maybe that was his intention of his legacy.
Bergling’s third and final album, ‘Tim’, was released posthumously, a year after his death in 2019 and remains a powerful reminder of his impact on the world.
