Gravitas Ventures has unveiled the official trailer for Between The Beats, a documentary diving into San Francisco’s iconic early ’90s rave scene. Moreover, the film will release on VOD platforms on October 15, 2024, highlighting the cultural and social impact of the rave movement on the Bay Area and the global dance music scene.

Directed by Martin O’Brien and produced by O’Brien and Mike Koeppel, Between The Beats features key figures like Brian Behlendorf, DJ Harvey, DJ Dan, DJ Doc Martin, and DJ Garth. These pioneers, in particular, played an instrumental role in shaping the underground rave scene, which transformed the music landscape in the Bay Area and far beyond.

San Francisco became the heart of the American rave scene in the early ’90s, with legendary all-night parties that drew a diverse crowd. Importantly, the film sheds light on how these events became not just musical experiences but also cultural touchstones that impacted Silicon Valley, global dance culture, and social activism.

O’Brien explains his personal connection to the scene: “As someone who helped create the rave movement in San Francisco, I wanted Between The Beats to capture the magic of those early years, celebrating the music and the community’s powerful energy.”

This intimate look into San Francisco’s rave scene will captivate audiences across the nation.
