Liam Payne, former member of the boy band One Direction, has died on Wednesday. According to TMZ, on 16 October, the 31-year-old singer fell from the third floor of a Buenos Aires hotel. Although more and more information is coming out about what happened, the dance music industry is mourning him as well as his fans and sharing memorable moments about him.
According to the tabloid TMZ, Payne and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy arrived in Argentina on September 30. However, according to their information, although they were only planning to stay for 5 days, it turned out to be two weeks and she left on 14 October. The singer then checked into the CasaSur Palermo hotel. Witnesses said that before the man’s death, police were called to the hotel because of an aggressive man. According to sources on the ground, Liam Payne had problematic behavior before his death, breaking his laptop and having to be escorted back to his room by staff. The singer joined the boy band One Direction at the age of 16, with his big breakthrough coming on the 2010 X-Factor. He was a member of the group until their disbandment in 2015 and was also one of the main songwriters.
So far, none of the former One Direction members have made a public statement about the singer’s death. Now the dance music scene has been saddened to hear that the 31-year-old singer has passed away. Some of electronic music’s biggest names have paid their respects on social media, with many sharing a picture of Liam Payne. Swedish DJ/producer Alesso said: “Can’t believe you’re gone Liam. I’m grateful we got to create magic together on ‘Midnight’ and even more grateful for the friendship we had. We shared many laughs and great memories that I’ll carry with me always. Rest easy, my friend. ❤️🕊”️. Under Alesso’s post, among many artists and fans, Swedish House Mafia member Sebastian Ingrosso also commented. Zedd and Liam collaborated in 2017 on the track “Get Low”, which currently has over 200 million streams on Spotify. “I can’t believe this is real… absolutely heartbreaking,” Zedd added.
