Moby celebrates 25 years of ‘Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?’
Earlier this year, Moby took to the stage for the first time in a decade to celebrate his most popular album, Play. Now, the producer has paid homage to one of the album’s tracks in a social media post.
Time is an amazing thing. Suddenly, two and a half decades have passed, and an artist and track that once defined a cultural moment is now celebrated as a moment in history, a sound of a different generation. Although Moby has always been a pioneer and leader in the dance music landscape, his height of popularity occurred well before the current reign of electronic music superstars. His most famous album, Play, was released in 1999 and was seen as a trailblazing moment for an artist as Moby and his team looked to aggressively license out the music for TV, movies, and commercials to reach a larger audience. The move worked as the album would go on to sell over 12 million copies and see the producer return to the stage to celebrate it this year in honor of 25 years since its release.
As he continues to look back on his classic release, he has now taken to Instagram to deliver a beautiful rendition of one of the tracks from Play, Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? In the post, he acknowledges that it has been 25 years since this landmark release, and plays a beautiful, solo performance of the track’s classic piano intro. It is a fitting homage to the track just weeks after celebrating the album on stage and a great way for fans to reconnect with the song and the producer.
