It’s like the door is wide open—come on in. Everyone wants to see a drum and bass set. It might seem like a phenomenon, but I think this is just another renaissance of what’s already been happening.

If you have been around the dance scene for the last few years, it has been obvious to see that there has become a newfound passion for the drum and bass genre. With its high-octane energy, it has taken the world by storm and has made its way back to the main stage of some of the most notable festivals. While this movement is happening across the world, there is one man who stands in the spotlight of it all in North America, the masked producer named REAPER.

Exposing the next generation to a whole new sound that is aggressive and exhilarating but encourages all to join in and experience the fun, REAPER has been anointed the center point of American drum and bass. We Rave You got the opportunity to speak to the red-hot bass producer who is taking the genre by storm about his newest single with Pirapus, ‘BLOW THE ROOF,’  his newest album CHALLENGER, his thoughts on the scene, touring with health issues, and how his entire brand came to be. So while you may not entirely know who he is right now, you better get to know him because soon… Everyone will be dancing with the REAPER.

So before 2018 (when the REAPER project was introduced), I know you and your current manager were friends before you started this project, but how did that decision to create the REAPER project come to be between you and him? Was it always going to be centered around drum and bass? Did you plan from the start to be this gateway for American Drum and Bass culture or did it evolve into that over time?

So, I moved in with Anthony, my manager, about eight years ago. I don’t live with him anymore, but back then, we were roommates and I was working on music all day. He was already managing many clients. We would do everyday things together, like going to the gym, grocery shopping, and for a while, we even shared one vehicle. During those rides, we would listen to Pendulum and Noisia tracks, and we started to really fall in love with drum and bass. I began making drum and bass records, singles, and remixes. Anthony would tell me, This is really good. From then on, it became a brainstorming session on how to present this as both an attractive and meaningful project for the bass music scene in America. Once I had a bunch of bootlegs saved up and a vision put together, we started releasing them in 2018. We just ran with it from there. Everything was well thought out. I really have to thank Anthony for that. He’d say, Alright, hold on, let’s do this smart, let’s have a game plan for everything. That was definitely a huge benefit for our professional relationship.
